“MANUAL THERAPY FOR HIP, KNEE, ANKLE AND FOOT DYSFUNCTIONS”

This MTFI workshop provides a critical insight into the complex anatomy and function of the Lower Extremity ( Hip, Knee ,Ankle and Foot) . The course facilitates analysing the mechanism behind possible dysfunctions, providing new clinical skills to enhance rehabilitation strategies and to treat the dysfunctions.
This course facilitates the identification of Dysfunctions and mobilisation techniques for the Hip, Knee, Ankle and Foot problems with clinical reasoning and Evidence based approach.
COURSE CONTENTS :
General Introduction: 01 Hrs
Eras of development in Physiotherapy, Introduction to Manual Therapy (Different Schools of Thought), Manual Therapy: Definitions, Indications and Contraindications, Biomechanical Principles in Manual Therapy (Fryette's Laws, Concave-Convex rule, Close pack and Loose pack Positions, Joint status gradings), Barrier concepts, Assessment of dominant eye.
Anatomy, Pathomechanics and Manual Therapy for Hip joint:04 Hrs
Hip Anatomy and Biomechanics, Active movements with overpressures for Hip joint (Flexion, Abduction,Adduction, Flexion/adduction ± Medial rotation, Flexion/abduction ± Lateral rotation, Extension ± abduction/adduction, ± Medial / Lateral rotation).
Accessory Movements of Hip Joint ( Cephalad/ caudad, AP-Supine, PA-Prone, Medial glide, Lateral glide, Shaft rotation, Flexion/ Adduction test of the Hip, Compression, Medial rotation, Side lying general articulation hold, Traction over a fulcrum, Piriformis inhibition technique(1) with thumb, Piriformis inhibition technique(2) with elbow.
Anatomy, Pathomechanics and Manual Therapy for Knee Complex:05 Hrs
Anatomy and pathomechanics of knee complex, Physiological movements with overpressures of Knee complex (Flexion, Extension Medial and lateral rotation in different positions of flexion and extension, Combine movements
(Extension/ abduction, Extension/adduction,Flexion/abduction, Flexion/adduction).
Accessory Movements of Knee Joint ( AP/ PA glide to tibia, Medial and lateral glide, Knee Instability Tests ( Valgus (abduction) stress-, Varus( adduction) stress., Anterior drawer test-ACL, Lachman’s Test.
Posterior Instabilities ( Sag Test, Posterior Drawer Test, Meniscal Tests, Mc murray’s test, Apley’s grinding test).
Articular Techniques (Knee,traction, Staggered hold for tibia thrust).
Patellofemoral Joint ( Accessory Movement, Caudad/ cephalad glide,Medial /lateral glide, Medial/lateral tilt, Medial and lateral rotation, Distraction/compression).
Superior tibiofibular joint( Accessory) Longitudinal cephalad (eversion) Longitudinal caudad (Inversion), AP/PA. Superior tibio-fibular joint gapping thrust.
Anatomy, Pathomechanics and Manual Therapy for Ankle and Foot Complex:06 Hrs
Active Physiological Movements of Foot ( Dorsiflexion, Supination, Plantar flexion, Pronation)
Inferior Tibio-fibular Joint (AP/PA glide), Longitudinal cephalad and caudad, Separation/spreading- Occurs in DF of talocrural joint.
Accessory Movements of Ankle Joint ( P-A Glide, A-P Glide);
Accessory Movements of Subtalar joint ( AP/PA glide, Medial/Lateral glide, Longitudinal caudad/cephalad); Movements of the mid-foot ( Calcaneocuboid joint on lateral side, Talo-calcaneo-navicular joint on the medial side, Navicular-cuneiform joint)
Inter metatarsal Joints ( AP/PA, Medial and Lateral glide), Metatarso Phalangeal Joints ( AP/PA, Medial and lateral glide, Caudal/cephalad)
Stability Tests ( Talar Tilt Test, Anterior Drawer Test, Inferior Tibio- Fibular joint).
Tibio-Taloid joint Thrust , Medial border of foot articulation and thrust, Gapping thrust to Sub-talar joint, Cuboid Thrust( Prone) Knee 90 degree flexed, Interphalangeal gapping, Metatarso-phalangeal gapping.

Credit Hours : 16 Hrs( 2 Days) Recognised throughout the Globe.
No. of Seats: 50 (Max.). Seats will be allotted on first come first serve basis only.
Eligibility: Physiotherapists / Physiotherapy Students from reputed Institutions. There is no prerequisite in terms of Manual Therapy Experience.
Fees : Rs. 5,000 per participant till May 15th,2017; Rs. 5,500 till June 15th,2017; Rs.6,000 spot ( If seats are available).
The above fee is applicable for participants of SAARC Countries.
International Registrants USD 200.
The fee includes Study Materials, Workshop Participation Certificate, Transcript of Workshop, 1 CD containing important techniques and Lunch.
1. The life members of MTFI get discount of 5% on the fees (photocopy of the membership certificate must be attached with application)
2. If you refer a friend to this course and both of you register, your friend and you get discount of Rs.100 on fees.
3. For group of 5 registrations there is 5% reduction in fees for each. The registrations must be sent together.
